The definition of Community outreach is when "a member or group of members goes into the community and does "something" in the name of our guild." Anything that promotes the guild in a way that also provides a service to out community and helps develop a public awareness of embroidery constitutes a community outreach activity. It can be almost anything, as long as our Guild or the EAC sponsors it.
We believe that we have more to give our community and can support more than one project.
Over the course of our lives we have all developed pet causes or areas were we wish to give service. Some of these are the result of the joys of life, others as a result of brushes with tragedy and still others out of a desire to honour special people.
Our Youth Guild
The Capital Running Stitchers is Ottawa's Youth Embroidery Guild which operates under the guidance of OVGS. We are now up and running again for 2013-2014. Meetings are held on the 4th Sunday of every month at the North Gloucester Branch of the Ottawa Public Library from October through June. Initial registration for the term was in September an additional registration date will occur at the January meeting from 13:30 to 15:30 hrs for the Winter season.
This year we began with a cross stitched friendship bracelet. In the New Year we plan on stitching a piece based on the children's own designs.
