The Ottawa Valley Guild of Stitchery presents a look into our exciting Program schedule for 2019-2020. Our new program chair, Mike has put together an exciting and tempting mix of classes and techniques for all of us to learn.

In Flanders Fields is worked over a painted background with the stalks of wheat and flowers stitched from background to foreground, building up layers of thread. Blue sky, ripening wheat and the bright splashes of red poppies form an idyllic scene in this beautiful embroidered panel.
January & February
Tudor Rose Chatelaine by Susan o'Connor , Teacher Jane

Join us for this beautiful Chatelaine which features silk surface embroidery on a dupioni silk fabric background. There is a needle case, a scissor holder and a pin keep. Threads used include Soie d'Alger, silk couching thread, gilt spangles, metallics and pearl cotton. Kit includes all stitching items. The waddings, interfacings and other finishing items are not included.
Kit cost Option A-Full Kit: $62 Option B Fabric only: $10 (supply your own threads etc. A list of DMC equivalents is provided)

Silk Roads Darning Sampler by Pelin Tezer , Teacher Mike
Pattern included in kit
This wonderful sampler uses pattern darning and needle weaving to create the effect of Asian silk carpets lain near one another. The pattern was designed with Caron Waterlilies silks shown in the photos . Our model was stitched using 6 colours of DMC threads. The fabric we will work on is a 28 count white chocolate linen from Denmark.

March, April, May
A spoolholder Box in Danish Hedebo techniques
Pattern included in Kit
We are still finalizing the design for our box. A mock up is available to view at our meetings. The box will hold multiple spools of thread of differing sizes. The techniques used are those of traditional Danish Hedebo. Mostly pulled thread work using linen threads on a linen background fabric. The kit will include a 28 count Antique White linen, Bocken linen threads, and a pebble bead .
Kit cost is $30
