Congratulations on a Finish -4

Lori has completed her Embroidery Sampler Book. This was from a class taught by Mike and Nancy in 2021 and was inspired by a 17th Century Portuguese Sample Book in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Each person was given the opportunity to individualize their own Sampler Book with different motifs and make it truly their own.  Lovely work Lori!

2023 Bead Embroidery Workshop

Bead Embroidery Workshop by Meredith Filshie

beading1  beading2

Date: Saturday, November 25, 2023, 3 hours morning or afternoon

Time: 3 hours (9-12 or 1-4)

Meredith Filshie will show you her approach to making little works of art, approximately 2”/5cm square, rectangle or circle. The end result would either be a brooch or something you could frame or be a highlight for a special greeting card. Please note that the project will usually not be finished in the 3-hour workshop.

You will have a choice of colourful seed bead packs so every project will be different. There will also be a choice of beads that could be your focal point. Participants, however, might have a unique bead or button or piece of sentimental/old jewellery they would like to use so feel free to bring it along. Just remember that it shouldn’t be too big for your first project so check what you might want to use against something that measures 2” or 5cm to check whether the scale works.

The workshops will take place at Canada Beading, which is located at 190 Colonnade Rd. S. Unit 8B in Ottawa. Please note that there are 14 stairs up to the classroom.

Class Cost:

  • $35
