Congratulations on a Pandemic Finish - 1
Congratulations to Mary-Anne on her completion of the Spanish Sampler. Mike taught this sampler in 2018-2019. Mary-Anne started it on Feb. 29, 2020 and finished it on April 30, 2020. She stitched it with 2 threads of DMC except for the border where she used 3 threads. Notice how it even includes a reference to the Covid-19 in the alphabet section!

2020 Summer Kaleidoscope
There will be two workshops this year. The fall workshop is Lorene Salt's Summer Kaleidoscope, a hold-over from the spring. There will be a one-hour Zoom class on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 10:00 for people who have registered for this workshop. Lorene will be online to provide help and advice. A second session will be held Sunday, November 8, 10:00-11:00 am.
"Summer Kaleidoscope" is stitched in a delightful colour palette reminiscent of the feeling experienced in summer. Hot days, gardens filled with colourful flowers and green grass and leaves abound. The carnation and lavender colours represent the summer flowers, the green accents reflect the lawns and leaves . . . a wonderful representation for this time of year when there is great anticipation and transition, especially in our northern climates.
"Summer Kaleidoscope" incorporates string art and needlepoint stitches. As the design is being stitched, it begins to take on the appearance of shards of coloured glass, as if looking through a Kaleidoscope. The overall design integrates over 40 different stitches including various types of Jessicas, Amadeus, Sprats Head, Fleur-de-Lis, Waffles, 12-point star and Wrapped Eyelets. Techniques include Bargello, Bias Bargello, Diaper Patterns, and Laid Fillings.
