2021-2022 Prog ImagesThe Ottawa Valley Guild of Stitchery presents a look into our exciting Programme schedule for 2021-2022. We welcome our new Programme Chair, Gosia, and thank our outgoing Programme Chair, Mike, for all his hard work over the past years putting together exciting and tempting mixes of classes and techniques for all of us to learn.


Note: All plans for our classes are subject to change as dictated by the rules for gathering during the pandemic.

October and November

17th Century Antique Sample book

Teachers: Mike and Nancy

This class was inspired by a Portuguese Sample Book in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Participants will have the opportunity to recreate many of the motifs found in the book with the ability to add other motifs of their own choosing. Sign up for a kit has closed already; anyone who wishes to join the class may do so however, they must provide all of their own supplies. The book is worked on 35 count linen but any other linen or Aida could also be used. The kit will have sufficient linen to make 5 linen pages that measure 8 x 6 inches when finished.

This is an Inspirations “Handpicked Pattern” which must be ordered from the Inspirations Studios website. Registration closes at the October meeting.

The Frog Prince

Design by Victoria Laine, Inspirations Issue # 98

Kit Cost $20

This class is to create a needlelace Frog Purse similar to those from the 17th century that are found in museums. The tiny purse will hold a small thimble but not much else. Techniques involve learning to make needlelace and a small amount of goldwork. If you don’t posses Issue #98 you can purchase the downloadable instructions from Inspirations studios online.

Registration closes at the December meeting.
